For the final year of the First Nations Director Scholarship, I took the lead on developing the creative direction and overarching theme, Shape the Future. My role was to ensure the campaign went beyond promotion, crafting a message that honoured the deep cultural significance of First Nations leadership while highlighting the opportunity of world-class governance education. Shape the Future became both drumbeat and blueprint: a call to acknowledge leadership as an ancient responsibility and to embrace it as a modern opportunity for change-making.

Walking together

The design drew inspiration from cultural perspectives of leadership as a gift owed to descendants, not a privilege of the present. In parallel, the Uluru Statement from the Heart’s call to “walk together to build a better future” informed the tone of voice and visual identity. Warm tones and authentic portrait photography celebrated real scholarship recipients, while hand-drawn graphic elements suggested continuity, connection, and strength.

Leading the way

Through this creative direction, the campaign positioned the scholarship not only as professional development but also as a pathway to safeguarding Country and community for generations to come. By framing leadership as both timeless and forward-looking, the Shape the Future theme resonated with ambition, duty, and opportunity, ensuring the program’s final year left a legacy of inspiration and impact.
